The Independent Medical Faculty is a membership organisation and its prime objective is to offer good services to its members. A secondary objective is to be of assistance to the public by providing generic (but not individual) medical information and viewpoints.

To provide external input into the handling of complaints, IMF uses the services of CHIAS (Complaints Handling, Investigation and Appeals Service) - chias.org.uk.
